AbstractConsidering the importance of remote sensing in analysis of soils, the aim of this article was to evaluate the spectral behavior of different types of soils through the use of spectroscopy and relate this behavior with the physical and chemical characteristics. 11 sampling points were selected with varying land use, slope and soil types, being 7 in the watershed of the stream Monjolo Grande and 6 in the watershed of the stream Jacutinga. In the watershed of the stream Monjolo Grande, the points were collected in Inceptisols, medium texture and in the watershed of the stream Jacutinga were collected in Ultisols and Inceptisol, both clayey. Soil samples were collected for classification purposes and performed physical and chemical analysis. Also soil samples were collected in the 0 to 20 cm, which were air dry and mechanically separated through mesh wire of 2 mm. These were placed in petri dish to obtain the reflectance data using the spectrometer FieldSpec Pro. The spectroradiometry proved able to identify the attributes of sand, clay, organic matter, clay minerals and goethite in soil samples worked. Also was possible to differentiate the samples and their taxonomic units of sampled soils. Thus, the spectral signatures of soils obtained in the laboratory are consistent with the physical and chemical characteristics determined in field and laboratory.
